Kismet - 4 song e.p. 2006  April 5, 2007, 12:04

There is something special about Kismet from Utrecht. Two summers ago they got me totally addicted to the three songs on their first release, which resulted in numerous late night listening sessions. This new four song EP already seems to have a similar effect. Maybe it’s the fact that they combine elements of almost all my favourite post-hardcore bands (At the Drive-In, Cursive and FAVEZ to name a few). The beautiful voice of singer/guitarist Temy – now also the lead singer – or the manner in which they shape their dynamic and diverse songs in a compact form might also contribute to my addiction.

Curious? Kismet has put all their new songs on their Simuze profile (using a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 license). This means you can legally join my latest addiction, at no charge:

Funny and clever parody by neo-hippie Alanis Morissette. I still prefer looking at Fergie though...

Thanks to Pascal a Thousand!

Wannahaves: MacBook mini  March 26, 2007, 0:56

Although I still love my iBook, and spend way too much time behind it (I’m such a geek), the recent rumours concerning the possibility of a new subnotebook by Apple are very tempting. I could really use a bit more power, but I would never switch to the current MacBook (Pro) models. Although they are much faster, they lack the portability of the sleek 12-inch iBook I’ve become accustomed to. Anything bigger would just feel like a step down for me. Being able to practically carry my laptop everywhere I go – without too much hassle – allows me a lot of flexibility in my work, that I couldn’t live without anymore. But if the MacBook mini – or MacSubBook (Pro) – would really hit the market, I’m afraid I won’t be able to resist buying one…

Last night I stumbled upon this video of Cursive performing their beautiful song “Art is Hard” at the show I attended last year.

Well here we go again…
